A recently retired teacher, John has worked mainly in the primary sector. John pioneered the use of Web 2.0 and digital technologies by primary pupils. The first podcast by primary children in Scotland was produced by his class. He continued using these technologies in the classroom for 20 years.

John worked as an ICT development officer in North Lanarkshire for 8 years, including a 2 year secondment to the Scottish Government to work as a 'product owner' for the updated Glow service in 2014-15. He continues to act as product owner for Glow Blogs on a part time basis.

More recently, John has led outdoor learning and the development of a STEM/STEAM Makerspace in his last teaching job. He is particularly interested in pupils being 'hands-on' in these activities.
