PSTT: Play Observe & Ask
The PSTT offers a selection of activity examples for early years (age 3-5) Sort by topic to identify "Light" themed resources.

We recommend checking out:
-
The Black Rabbit
-
The Ugly Five

Both of these provision maps are based around easy-to-read and enjoyable books.
Ogden Trust
The Ogden Trust provides a super resource linked to light and the night sky. The activity is based around the book "Look Up!" by Nathan Bryon. This book can be borrowed as a Touch to See book for blind and visually impaired children from Living Paintings.

The resource contains a teacher guide which refers to Development Matters, observation notes, constellation cards, and a simple, double-sided instruction card.

TTS Blog
TTS have created a super blog that gives a range of quick ideas and suggestions for investigating all about light in nursery/early years.
Nustem
NUSTEM have created a great list of suggested, adult-led and child-initiated activities for EYFS children. The resources are all part of their Play, Be, C initiative which looks at resources and activities around a STEM job. The resources include a progression document as well as a question prompt card, which focuses on The Black Rabbit book. Activities include making lanterns, creating sundials, shadow puppets, and dark den investigations.

Crest Awards
CREST AWARDS have recently adapted some of their STAR Awards to make them suitable for children from 3 years of age. Light-related activities include:

-
Be Seen, Be Safe: this activity gets children thinking about reflection and light.
-
Sneaky Shadows: learn about shadows

These activities come with teacher demo videos as well as supporting slides, to support both adults and children carrying out the investigations.

CREST AWARDS have also worked with the Ogden Trust to design a superb pack of Early Years Challenges:
-
Mask Makers: gets children thinking about how to block out light.
