For the past three years, Emma has worked as a Training and Development Officer for Learning through Landscapes, the leading outdoor learning and play charity, where she promotes high‑quality STEM teaching and learning outdoors. 

 

With 30 years of teaching experience in schools in England, internationally, and 23 years within North Ayrshire Council across Early Years and the primary sector, Emma is passionate about helping all children develop curiosity and confidence in science.

 

Emma spent two years seconded to the North Ayrshire STEM team, delivering STEM training across the authority and helping to establish a community STEM trail, supporting Early Years and Primary settings to access gardening grants, and organising STEM events. As part of the RAiSE (Raising Aspirations for STEM Education) programme, she contributed to raising the profile of science locally and nationally by developing resources to support science teaching both indoors and outdoors.

Emma is currently involved in the CIC review in Scotland for Learning for Sustainability and Science and is keen to ensure that every eligible setting accesses their Edina Trust funding to strengthen science teaching and learning.
