Book Corner

Here we have gathered a selection of science books that are recommended for primary level.

The Edina Trust science grants are intended for the purchase of hands-on equipment and experiences. While we don't encourage schools to use their grant to purchase books, we recognise how valuable they are for inspiring the next generation of scientists! We will allow up to £200 to be spent on science books for the children through our Science Grant Scheme.

Please get in touch if you have any thoughts or recommendations for this list. You can contact us through our contact form or on Twitter.

The Royal Society - Young People's Book Prize

The Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize aims to inspire young people to read about science and promotes the writing of excellent, accessible STEM books for under-14s. The Prize is unique in that the winner is selected by judging panels made up of young people across the country. Click here should you wish to see past winners and shortlisted books.

The ASE Book Award Shortlist

The ASE Book Award seeks to find a book that goes that ‘extra mile’ and supports its vision of ‘science for all’, a book that could supplement a teacher’s understanding, that innovative hook, or something that goes beyond the traditional science curriculum.

Other Recommended Science Books

Nursery Books

We have found these nursery books that would be suitable for younger scientists. If your early years setting has won a 'Super Scientists' prize from us you may choose one of these books or you might decide that one of the books above is more suitable.
