Rainforest Roadshow

The Rainforest Roadshow aims to bring the rainforest topic to life in schools. The presenters combine extensive knowledge and experience, with genuine artefacts and a sense of humour to bring an informative and entertaining glimpse of the rainforest.

Feedback:

"The Rainforest Roadshow day was fantastic! Dave Shaw came along with amazing photographs, which he had taken on his numerous visits to the Amazon Rainforest. The whole school enjoyed learning about the tribal people and investigating artefacts from the Cofan people of Equador. Dave's knowledge, enthusiasm and humour were so entertaining that staff and pupils loved every minute of the day."

Feedback:

"Our pupils enjoyed all aspects of our visit, especially the 'me and my body gallery'. The displays were very hands on and staff at Eureka were very helpful in advising which areas of the museum would best benefit our pupils who have learning disabilities."

Cuerden Valley Park

Cuerden Valley Park offer a wide range of educational activities, including a variety of environmental education programmes. These are all run by a specialist education officer and include: river studies, pond-dipping/mini-beast hunting and woodland wonders. The activities and programs offered by Cuerden Valley Park fit in well with the Eco-Schools scheme. If your school is working towards an Eco-Schools award or if this is a scheme you are considering taking part in, the Cuerden education team can help and are happy to tailor activities to meet your schools needs.

Cuerden Valley Park is also working with Cuerden Birds of Prey to provide a new program, an Owl-tastic experience! This program allows pupils the chance to get up close and personal with some of Britain’s top predators. Tawny and Little owls can be found wild within the park and this program gives pupils the experience of meeting captive bred birds in their natural environment.

Feedback:

"Cuerden Valley hosted our Nursery and Reception classes for half a day respectively to undertake habitats, mini beast hunts and pond dipping. With an army of helpers, both visits were a great success and this is the youngest group to have dipped at Cuerden. The education team there are only too willing to tailor your visit as best they can - BRILL!"
